작년부터 불어 닥친 금융위기로 인해 펀드 같은 투자 상품보다는 확정금리를 받을 수 있는 예금상품에 대한 선호현상이 강해지고 있다. 거기에 자본시장통합법 시행으로 인해 증권사와 은행들의 수시입출금 계좌의 금리 경쟁이 심화되면서 고금리 통장들이 속속 출시되고 있다.
하지만 보통사람들이 하기 힘든 까다로운 조건들을 달아놓아 무늬만 고금리인 통장들이 많아서 주의가 필요하다.
사례1. A은행 수시입출금통장. 연 6.1% 지급
거의 금리를 지급하지 않는 수시입출금 통장이 6.1%의 금리를 지급한다고 하면 가입하고 싶은 마음이 안 들 수가 없다. 하지만 속을 들여다보면 6.1%의 금리는 그냥 미끼용이었다는 것을 금방 알 수 있다. 해당은행에서 발급하는 신용카드를 매월 200만 원 이상 써야 6.1% 금리가 가능한 것이다. 이 통장의 기본금리는 연 3.6% 수준이다. 게다가 예치기간이 30일 이내면 연 0.1%의 금리만 제공한다.
사례2. B증권 CMA, 연 9% 수익률
B증권사 지점에 가면 “저는 CMA 수익률 9%로 하겠습니다”라는 홍보문구가 눈에 띈다. 요즘 같은 시기에 9%수익률이면 펀드 가입하는 것보다 낫겠다고 생각하게 된다. 하지만 주식형펀드에 2000만 원 이상의 금액을 투자하지 않으면 받을 수 없는 수익률이다.
사례3. C은행 하루만 맡겨도 연3%
하루만 맡겨도 연3%. 증권사에서나 볼 수 있을 법한 문구다. 그러나 50~200만원의 구간에 대해서만 3% 금리를 적용하고 50만원 미만 금액과 200만원 초과금액에 대해서는 0.1%의 금리만 제공하고 있다.
금융회사들이 출시하는 고금리 상품의 상당수가 이런 식으로 까다로운 조건이 붙어서 광고에 있는 금리를 받을 수 있는 사람은 소수에 불과하다. 그런데 마치 누구나 고금리를 받을 수 있는 것처럼 최고금리를 내세워 고객들을 낚시질하고 있다.
금융회사들의 영업 전략에 따라 특정고객에게 우대혜택을 주는 것은 어디까지나 금융회사들의 자유다. 하지만 최고금리를 전면에 내세워 홍보하고 고객들이 몰려오면 까다로운 조건을 내세우는 것은 말 그대로 낚시용 미끼로 밖에 보이지 않는다.
주식시장이 한창 호황이던 때 펀드만 가입하면 높은 수익률을 보장할 것처럼 고객들을 유혹하더니 이제는 예금과 CMA만 가입하면 높은 금리를 보장할 것처럼 고객들을 유혹하고 있다. 금융회사도 주식회사이고 돈을 벌어야하는 곳인데 손해 보는 장사를 요구하지는 않는다. 하지만 최소한 정직하게라도 해줬으면 하는 것도 무리한 욕심일까?
